Pond Construction
2004

In the beginning...
Yuk!!!
Problems to address:

poor drainage in center of yard.
Ugly rotten deck
Dogs dig & pee on bushes.
People have to walk through the yard to get to the back door. Watch out for dog-doo.
Grass in poor condition.
cont'd

Raised flowerbed in back corner, shabby.
Dogs walk through flowerbed and pee on flowers.
You can see the electrical box.
No privacy from neighbors.
Generally uninteresting.
Did I mention the dogs?
We're going to zip through these construction photos...
We're going to begin as if we're going to leave the
existing deck. I'd like to change the railing and add another staircase from the deck
directly to the gate.
Both sets of steps will have a
latching gate at the top
of the steps.  One set of steps goes to the dog area
while the other goes to the Garden side.

This step is key to make our plan work.  I want to still be able to just open the sliding glass doors & let the dogs out. If only one gate is left open (the one that goes to the dog side) then they go out normally.
I have already partitioned off the 2 areas.
While we were waiting for it to quit raining, we discovered a bunny nest in the yard.
